The Care Concert Finale

Saturday, June 10th was the night of The Care Concert, a star-studded event that brought action to the homelessness crisis in Los Angeles. TV personality Kelly Osbourne was the Master of Ceremonies for the evening as some incredibly talented performers graced the stage at the beautiful Palace Theatre. In addition to John Wicks (seen in the finale here), Micky Dolenz (The Monkees) entertained the crowd with two Monkees’ songs, “Daydream Believer” and “I’m a Believer”. There were wonderful performances by Florence LaRue (The 5 Dimension), Lamont Dozier Jr., Jack Tempshin (Eagles songwriter), and Carl Verheyen (Supertramp). Fans of the TV show Northern Exposure were treated to a special performance by the show’s star, Rob Morrow.

Members of The Wrecking Crew

A special appearance by members of The Wrecking Crew marked the highlight of the evening for many. Inducted into the Musicians hall of Fame in 2007, these extremely talented individuals were Phil Spector’s original Wall of Sound orchestra as well as having contributed to seminal pop recordings such as Bob Dylan’s “Tambourine man” and recordings by Frank Sinatra, The Beach Boys, The Byrds, The Monkees and many of the top recording acts of the 60’s and 70’s. Legendary guitarist Don Peake & keyboardist Don Randi, both of Wrecking Crew fame were joined by Denny Tedesco, producer of The Wrecking Crew movie.

It was most certainly a night to remember.
